1 / Roof Deck
Rubinsky Roofing always removes all existing roofing components to fully expose your roof deck. We then make any necessary repairs to ensure the deck is properly prepared for the new roof installation.
The roof deck (wood) forms the crucial layer between the structural components (such as joists and rafters) and the insulation and waterproofing layers (like ice and water shields, synthetic felt, and shingles). It's the foundation upon which the entire roofing system is built. If the roof deck is compromised, the integrity of the entire roofing system is at risk!
2 / Ice and Water Shield
Rubinsky Roofing installs ice and water shield directly onto the clean, properly prepared roof deck. This protective layer is applied to all valleys (where two slopes meet), around all roof penetrations, and along the eaves and rakes for comprehensive protection.
Ice and water shield is a self-adhering waterproof underlayment used in roofing to protect against damage from ice dams and wind-driven rain.
3 / Synthetic Felt
Rubinsky Roofing will install synthetic felt across the entire roof, providing complete coverage and added protection.
Synthetic underlayment is a layer of laminated polypropylene or polyethylene plastic that is applied over the roof deck. Its primary purpose is to offer an additional layer of protection for the roofing system. This durable material is moisture-resistant and can be exposed to the elements for extended periods without compromising its effectiveness.
4 / Drip Edge
Rubinsky Roofing will install drip edge along the eaves (the horizontal edges of the roof) and the rakes (the angled edges of the roof).
Drip edge is metal flashing installed along the roof's edges to direct water away from the fascia and prevent it from seeping beneath roofing components and damaging the roof deck. Without drip edge, water can infiltrate behind the gutters, leading to rot in both the fascia board and roof decking.
5 / Starter Strip
Rubinsky Roofing will install starter strips along the eaves (the horizontal edges of the roof) and the rakes (the angled edges of the roof).
A starter strip is an asphalt-based shingle used to waterproof the eaves and rake edges of your home during re-roofing. Its adhesive tar strips provide extra protection by helping to prevent shingle blow-off in harsh winds.
6 / Shingles
Rubinsky Roofing exclusively installs shingles from the top-rated manufacturers, ensuring the highest quality for your roof.
Asphalt shingles consist of several layers: a base mat, a layer of waterproofing asphalt, and a layer of ceramic granules. One of these layers is fiberglass, which enhances durability and strength.
7 / Ventilation
Rubinsky Roofing will ensure that your roof has adequate ventilation and will prime and paint all vents to match the roof’s appearance.
Ventilation is crucial for optimal roof performance. Installing roof vents helps regulate the temperature in the attic or roof space, preventing extreme heat or cold. This reduces moisture buildup, which can lead to mold growth and ensures that roofing components function effectively.
